June

The main event of the month was the acquisition of a second-hand horsebox for Clyde, so that Jay could take part in some of the local shows on a more regular basis.  The box was on an old Bedford 3.5 ton chassis and would take 2 ponies or a small horse up to about 15 hands.  In other words, just right for Clyde.

We drove it back from Stroud on Thursday 30 to the livery yard where it will be kept.

Jay finished her GCSE exams on 22, when she finished school for the summer.  She is due to return to the Sixth Form in September.

Jay’s Friday night orchestra performed in the Cheltenham Town Hall on 29, as part of the Youth Makes Music week of concerts featuring all the Gloucestershire youth music groups.  They played pieces by Kabelewsky, Borodin and Walton and sounded very accomplished.

Roger’s bowling activities kept him busy, with matches and club competitions to be played, as well as duties on the green mowing and bar rotas.

Weather for the month continued to be variable:  some warm sunny spells were followed by heavy showers and thunderstorms, including a freak hailstorm, which damaged many conservatory and greenhouse roofs in the area.  We did have good weather for visitors on 18, for whom Teresa produced her usual accomplished hospitality.
